No longer haunted by insecurities
Of beauty,
Of image,
Of self-esteem.
The suicide of mis-education.
A grave marked with victory.
Failure was the plague of my people,
Now progression is our disease that we wish not to cure.
Melodic orchestras
Of educated conversation roam our streets,
Traveling within the ears of our young ones.
This is the noise we never want to silent.
Youth repeating,
Studying,
Rehearsing,
And finally attempting to understand,
Motivated speeches.
There are so many dreams to be conquered
And cycles to be broken.
The prostitution against the government
The hypocrisy of defeat,
The money and greed,
No longer defines us
Jails and graves have no place for our freed souls.
Let's have a funeral for stereotypes
That has only manipulated our enemy’s mind against us.
Outliving myths
And false hopes of failure
Against our beautiful complexion.
Inner beauty lives.
Salute to the Ebony queens
Who make love to education
And birth geniuses
Intimacy built on
Character references instead of bastard situations
Or victims of selfish one-night stands.
Nothing but love
To the onyx kings
Who speak with eloquence and sophistication,
Instead of producing words of ignorance and remedial conversation.
Dreams of black!
Reality of Beauty.
Recognition from within.
